Steve Pigeon, President

Steve Pigeon entered the media business in 1973, charged with developing a stock photo enterprise for a Canadian newspaper group which ultimately led to the creation of Masterfile in 1981. Steve has been president of Masterfile since 1984 when he and a consortium of employees and photographers purchased the company from its former owners.

Under Steve's leadership, Masterfile has grown successfully in the highly competitive global market for stock images. He was a finalist for Canada's Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 1996 but was disqualified because he didn't meet the height requirements.


Marco Trecroce, Chief Operating Officer

Marco joined Masterfile in Toronto in 2007 with 20 years international management experience. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2008 with a special focus on technology initiatives. Prior to joining Masterfile, Marco was Group Chief Operating Officer at pan-European online travel company Opodo, UK Group Business Transformation and Operations Director at Thomas Cook AG.


Geoff Cannon, Executive Vice-President

Geoff joined Masterfile in January 2001 as Executive Vice-President. A founder of Canada's first visual directory for photographers, illustrators and designers, Creative Source, he has 25 years experience in publishing, creative services and international sales & marketing management. Geoff is primarily responsible for global sales and business development.


Cheong Chiu, Chief Financial Officer

Cheong joined Masterfile as CFO in 2003 having had extensive experience in corporate finance at a number of technology companies (including a prior term at Masterfile from 1998-2000). He received his MBA at the University of Toronto in 1991, then worked at Ernst & Young for several years before moving into the technology sector as a financial professional for a number of private and publicly-listed companies.


John McDonald, Vice-President – Product Development

John joined the company in 1999 charged with fast-tracking the creation and development of Masterfile's royalty-free business lines. John is responsible for developing new products, technologies and services, as well as creating innovations in the field of user experience.

Prior to joining Masterfile, John worked for 20 years in the broadcast and multimedia business as an independent producer, in product marketing and new product development.


Susan Morissette, Vice-President – Content Management

Susan started at Masterfile in March 1984 as a photo researcher after graduating from the Applied Photography program at Ryerson University in Toronto. She quickly grew into a management role and her responsibilities grew along with the company. Today she is the senior executive responsible for the creative product of Masterfile worldwide.


Tomas Speight, Senior Vice-President – International & Marketing

Based in Düsseldorf, Tomas joined Masterfile in 2005 to launch the company's European operations in Germany, England, France and Italy. The European headquarters in Düsseldorf also services clients the Netherlands and territories in the Middle East & Asia, manages European artist relations, and develops marketing materials for Masterfile worldwide. In addition, to keep him from having a life, Tomas manages relations with Masterfile's international agents outside of the Americas.

Prior to joining Masterfile, Tomas was co-CEO at zefa (four years) and Managing Director of European Operations for The Stock Market Photo Agency (six years).
